Parvesh Cheena is best known for his roles as Gupta on the series Outsourced and Sunil on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. He has voiced many characters on animated series, including Disney Junior’s T.O.T.S., Disney’s The Owl House and Transformers: Rescue Bots. In the new NBC comedy Connecting…, he plays Pradeep, one of a group of friends trying to stay close during the pandemic.

Gage Gallery

Gage Gallery exhibition filled with Roosevelt students

Professor Michael Ensdorf founded the gallery as a showcase for documentary photography with social justice themes. The gallery has welcomed both emerging and renowned photographers, including Eugene Richards, Noor’s Nina Berman and Jon Lowenstein, and Greg Constantine. With artist talks and exhibitions, the Gallery has become a forum for discussion about social justice.

Oprah gives Commencement speech

Oprah Winfrey urged graduates to seek their calling during her address in 2000. “When you decide that your life will be different, that your circumstances will be different, that your environment will be different — when you decide, that is when it changes,” Winfrey told the crowd of 3,800 in the Auditorium Theatre.

Joseph Loundy Human Rights Project

Roosevelt students outdoors and participating in the Joseph Loundy Human Rights Project

Roosevelt established the one-of-a-kind project with a $100,000 gift from alum Joseph Loundy in 2008. Through the program, students have traveled to Amsterdam, London and Vancouver to study human rights issues. A quarter of students in the program had never left the country before.

Courses have explored environmental justice, criminal justice and Brexit with community partners around the world.

Creation of The Pharmacy Program

Roosevelt University welcomed its first class of pharmacy students in 2011. The Doctor of Pharmacy program — the first three-year PharmD in the Midwest — helps students enter the workforce more quickly than in traditional four-year programs.

Wabash Building

2012–Present

The 31-story Wabash Building joined the Chicago skyline in 2012. The zig-zagging building became home to Roosevelt residence halls, dining and classrooms. From their classrooms, students get a clear view of Lake Michigan and Grant Park.

The Wabash Building earned Gold LEED certification for its renewable flooring, rooftop gardens and low-flow water pumping systems.
