Lois Backas says
I received my BA in History and my MA in English from Roosevelt University. In 1985, I was hired as the Assistant Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences – a job I held for 32 years. My two proudest memories are the occasions of my father’s graduation with honors from Roosevelt in 1995 at the age of 75, and my son’s graduation from Roosevelt with honors in 2013. On both occasions I was allowed to give them their diploma on the stage. Roosevelt was always more than a job for me – I believe in the mission. I still cry at every graduation ceremony I attend when the President asks those students who were the first in their family to receive their degree to stand up. We make a difference at RU.
